Three Days in Georgia

I am still in Augusta and will leave for Charleston in the morning.  Three more days till boarding.   How do you pack for two months when one of them is on a ship with no shopping?  Dragging a big suitcase with wine, yoga mat, pillow, maps, two months of clothing etc.  We are allowed 300 lbs. on the ship, but how the heck will I get it in there? No elevators on the ship. Obviously, way less than allowed will be carried by me.

Climbing Stone mountain was very interesting (check mark #1).  It is the largest exposed granite in the world and it extends 150 miles east, but that part is underground. Lots of civil war history in this area.

It was wonderful meeting up with my niece, Rita, her husband, Mark, their daughter Tina, and boyfriend, Byran. We had a great time eating southern, greasy food, including fried okra, a southern favorite.

My sister, Peg and husband, Ben (who live in CA) were in New Orleans and are driving through Augusta on their way to Charleston. We are having an unplanned mini family reunion.  It worked out fabulously as we are all heading to Charleston. They will take me to the freighter and make sure I board (don't know if that is because they want to help or want to make sure I am away for a time.) Sometimes things just work out.

My golf friends know what is happening in Augusta!!! Yup the Masters!  We tried to get in just to poke around, but were denied ... ha!  Got a few pix from outside though. An added bonus to the trip.

May have time for one more update before leaving, but will try one more before boarding.  Feel free to respond to this blog.  It will be lonely without you!
