Boarding Day

Today is boarding day, finally!!!  As it has been for this whole adventure, I am still not sure how this all works.  We re-read the information again last night, and are still confused.  BUT It will work out.   The ship was scheduled to dock at 7 AM today and boarding is sometime between then and 7 PM.  (We have been tracking it by the link on the blog.)  Entering the gate has to be by taxi with a driver cleared and licensed to enter the ship yard.  Compared to Oakland, the yard  is WAY small.

So far, this trip has been very nice.  Our drive from Augusta, GA to Charleston, SC was traveled by driving off the main roads. The South is the same as it was when living here so many years ago. Lots of Spanish moss, wet-grounds, humidity, etc.  However, it has not been hot nor have we suffered from mosquitoes.  The people here are very charming, helpful and sweet.  Charleston is another city full of Civil War history and is beautifully set.  Lots of surrounding water inlets, lakes and ocean side.  It maintains its pre-war (everything is about the Civil War here) charm, and they can certainly brag about their golf courses.

My sister and brother-in-law leave today to return to San Francisco and it will seem empty when they are gone.  Now, I am really alone. It is all on me...

This is probably the last  update for awhile, but hopefully I will hear from some of you when opening my computer...whenever that is.

My brother-in-law told me at breakfast that this was my last meal on earth for a long time!
